These past few weeks have been a flurry of activity in the shop with our Semi-Annual Clearance Sale.  Moving out the old and making room for the new has been my mantra and I want to personally thank you if you’ve been one of the absolutely awesome customers who has come in (or called) to help us with our task.

Many have asked, “Are you closing?”.  Let me assure you that I have no plans to close Serendipity Needleworks.  I am so very fortunate to have the opportunity to run this little needlework shop – I love my job!  Coming to work every day is truly a blessing.  I mentioned that you’d be seeing some changes back in January and our sale was the first step toward the metamorphosis.  Yes, several yarn lines are being discontinued, but exciting new companies are already sending their goodies to us and we’re busily getting them ready to share with you in the upcoming weeks.  Our needlepoint department is undergoing a massive redesign – one that I’m sure you’re going to love.  Our web site will serve as our SALE center, enabling us to continue sharing terrific savings with you now that the sale is over in the store.  It, too, is being completely redesigned to match our new “look” that will be unveiled this fall.  I’m so excited about all that we have coming up that it’s really hard not to spill the beans!

Keep an eye on our social media outlets to keep up with the latest news from the shop.  Here are some tips, if you’re a bit new to all of these newfangled gizmos and gadgets that keep us connected via the internet.

First, let’s talk about Facebook.  Facebook is constantly changing their m.o. and that means you really have to be on your toes to keep up.  I’ve discovered a few things that will help increase the chances that you’re seeing our posts.  “Liking” our Facebook page is, of course, necessary, but so is choosing to “Follow” us.  I also highly recommend visiting our page daily to be sure that you see everything that we post from the shop, since that’s really the only sure fire way to guarantee you’re not missing anything.

Next up, Twitter.  Twitter is a terrific way to keep up with us via your mobile device.  Following us on Twitter will ensure that you get the latest information about new deliveries, classes, special events and sales.  My Twitter handle is @yarnshopgirl, so click on over and follow me.

A picture truly is worth a thousand words and Instagram is the perfect platform for sharing photos and videos from Serendipity with you.  I’m really just learning about all that it has to offer, but I hope you’ll follow us on Instagram, too.  My initial experience has been that it is better suited for viewing on mobile devices rather than on your laptop or desktop computer.

I’m sure you’re familiar with Pinterest.  It’s another beautiful way to share Serendipity Needleworks with you.  Our Pinterest Boards are always changing and you can be guaranteed that you won’t miss anything by choosing to follow us here, as well.  Seasonal boards keep you in the loop about the latest fashion trends, must-have accessories, and the best that our industry has to offer.

Ravelry, dubbed by many to be “Facebook for knitters”, is yet another way to stay connected to our cozy little shop.  Our Ravelry group, Serendipity Stitchers, is our online circle of friends that enjoy sharing their love of knitting and crochet with one another, regardless of their location.  Please join us for knit-alongs, crochet-alongs, weekly tips and helpful hints, and project sharing.  You can find me on Ravelry as yarnshopgirl…I’ll see you there!

Finally, we come to the Serendipity Needleworks web site and blog.  Our web site is the best place to check for new class schedules, learn about special events, get directions to our store, and more!  I’ll be writing to you about all kinds of different things on this blog and invite you to sign up to receive an email when a new post has been added.  All of our social media outlets combine to provide you with the latest and greatest from Serendipity Needleworks.  I’m so thankful for your continued support and look forward to an exciting fall/winter stitching season with you!

See you soon…

Ellen : )
